Our Committees

The workload of the Governing Body is shared between various committees, each with its own chair.

They are Resources; Strategic Planning;  and Teaching, Learning and Wellbeing. Each committee meets termly and reports to the main Board.

Minutes from governing body meetings are available upon request.

  • Resources: Looks at the annual budget being proposed by the school to ensure it meets legal criteria, and fits in with the Governing Body's strategic plans. Monitors expenditure to ensure compliance to the budget. Any expenditure outside of the approved budget has to be approved by the finance committee, or by the Governing Body, depending on the amount. The committee also monitors capital expenditure. This committee also agrees the staffing structure and oversees all aspects relating to the staff of the school, such as, recruitment, welfare and remuneration.  The committee also ensures that the school environment is satisfactory for purpose and that the buildings and grounds are safe for children, staff and parents.  the school takes safeguarding particularly seriously.
  • Strategic Planning: To ensure the activities of the governing body are coordinated, efficient and productive and directed towards the achievement of the school’s vision and key objectives.
  • Teaching, Learning & Wellbeing (TLW): The work of this committee is very important, as it looks at the standards of teaching and learning in the school, and looks in very close detail at pupil progress data. The committee wants to see that targets for attainment and learning are realistic, but challenging, and that the school is meeting these targets. Other work includes setting the overall curriculum, agreeing policies and ensuring their implementation for areas such as Special Educational Needs, Behaviour, Educational Trips and pupil welfare.
