Computing

"I think it's fair to say that personal computers have become the most empowering tool we've ever created. They're tools of communication, they're tools of creativity, and they can be shaped by their user."
Bill Gates
Mr Andrew Foulkes
Subject Leader

Intent

At Woodingdean Primary School, we recognise the importance of understanding the expanding digital world and how to use it efficiently. Appreciating technology, and learning how to use it safely is at the forefront of our journey to become more knowledgeable about computing and the value it holds in our futures.

Implementation

Inspire by being able to use their creativity to learn new concepts and programs that can drive their learning, installing a passion for technology at a suitable level.

Explore by be given the opportunity to express themselves and create their own range of content, linking to their subjects and topics. Through the use of computing, our children will be able to explore a new world of information and use a variety of different programs to enhance their learning across the curriculum.

Engage by being able to recognise the deep links of computing and use these links to engage with a variety of subjects, enhancing their learning experiences.  High quality lessons will give students the opportunities to try and test new equipment and software, giving them a better understanding of how things are created and give them the opportunity to produce their own.

Deepen by being given every occasion to dig deeper into their learning and discover the next steps of each skill and program to develop and strengthen their passion and skillsets.

 Impact

Our children will have the opportunity to explore the world of technology in a safe and secure way. They will be given a plethora of resources and the time to absorb, decode and recognise the power that technology can create, giving them the knowledge and ability to thrive as an active contributor to the digital world.
